My Guide to Launceston
Restaurants
-
Du Cane Brewery
60/64 Elizabeth St, Launceston
This family-friendly brewery and dining hall is open every day from noon. Their wood-fired pizzas including gluten-free options are absolutely delicious, and go down a treat with their craft beers. The separate play area and mini rock-climbing wall will keep the kids entertained for ages!

Felix Espresso & Wine
4/112 Cimitiere St, Launceston
Felix is a new addition to Launnie’s food scene, and I’m officially hooked after trying their pasta and wine! There are lots to choose from - paninis, coffee, fresh pasta, breakfast, wine and cocktails – basically all of my favourites covered. As a day-to-night eatery, I recommend checking their opening hours before stopping by.
-
Monsoon Tapas
178 Charles St, Launceston
Monsoon’s menu is full of Thai fusion dishes that are packed with flavour. They have a bunch of vegan options and it’s one of my top choices for takeaway when a night in is on the cards.
-
Mudbar Restaurant
28, Seaport Blv, Launceston
Mud, right by the waterfront, is perfect for a leisurely lunch or dinner. I love stopping by for a glass of Tassie wine and sampling their fantastic bar menu.
-
Star of Siam
110 Charles St, Launceston
If you are looking for a Thai dining experience that never disappoints, Star of Siam is a must. Their meals are excellent, with great serving sizes and a laid-back atmosphere that makes for an excellent night out. They’re located close to bars and are a great choice for large groups. They’re on Uber Eats too if takeaway is your style.
-
Stillwater
2 Bridge St, Launceston
Sitting in an old flour mill on the banks of the Tamar River, Stillwater is one of a kind. Close to the Kings Bridge, it’s a great spot to grab a coffee or bite to eat after a scenic walk from the Cataract Gorge via the Cataract Walk (or the Zig Zag Track if you’re up for a challenge). For something super fancy, be sure to make a dinner reservation. Trust me, you won’t regret it!
-
The Royal Oak
14 Brisbane St, Launceston
The Royal Oak (or The Oak to locals) claim to have the best pub meal in town and I think they are spot on! Their meals are delish and there are plenty of local beers and wines to choose from. You can often catch live music from Thursday to Sunday – head to their social media to see what’s on.
